Step 1: Set up a Java Edition server
- Start by setting up a Minecraft Java Edition server on your desired platform.
- You can use Spigot or Paper.
Step 2: Install Geyser:
- Download the Geyser plugin from the official GeyserMC website or from a trusted Minecraft plugin repository. Make sure you choose the version compatible with your server software.
Step 3: Configure the server
- Open the server.properties file for your Java Edition server and make sure the following settings are properly configured:
online-mode should be set to false to allow Bedrock Edition players to join.
server-port should be set to the port number you want to use for the server (default is 25565).
Step 4: Install Geyser on the Bedrock Edition client:
- On the Bedrock Edition client (Windows 10, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.), you'll need to install the Geyser Connect app.
- This app acts as a bridge between the Bedrock Edition client and the Java Edition server. You can download it from the official GeyserMC website.
Step 5: Configure Geyser:
- On your Java Edition server, locate the Geyser configuration file (geyser-config.yml) and open it.
- In this file, you can customize various settings such as server address, authentication type, and more.
- Make sure the address is set to your Java Edition server IP address.
Step 6: Start the server:
- Start your Java Edition server and make sure it's running properly.
Step 7: Connect with Bedrock Edition:
- Launch the Bedrock Edition client and open the Geyser Connect app.
- Enter the IP address of your Java Edition server and the port number you set in the server.properties file.
- Then, click "Connect" to establish a connection.
Step 8: Join the server:
In the Bedrock Edition client, go to the "Friends" tab and look for your Java Edition server in the "LAN Games" section. Click on it to join the server and start playing with crossplay enabled.
