How to upload a file through a link

Level: Beginner

We will explain the process of downloading a file remotely using the provided URL (link).

Certain files such as the ones without a "Content-Length" header may not be downloadable through the URL downloader.

Step 1: Obtain the download link

  • Go to the website that provides the download link.
  • Right click the download link / button, click on the "Copy Link" option.

Step 2: Prepare the import

  • Click on the Import button in the File Manager.
  • Paste the link in the URL field.
  • Under File Name, enter the name of the file which is often displayed at the end of the link.

Make sure the extension (such as .zip .rar .jar) is properly present within the File Name otherwise it may not function properly. The extension is often times present in the link itself as demonstrated by the second image.

Step 3: Import the file

  • Click on the Import File button.
  • The file will be automatically downloaded and added to the File Manager.
