Install Better MC Modpack

Level: Easy

Better MC is a custom modpack that enhances the Minecraft experience with over 40 mods that improve gameplay, add new biomes and dimensions, more weapons and tools, new mobs, and much more. This guide will walk you through installing the Better MC modpack on both a Minecraft server and client respectively.

How to Install Better MC on Your Minecraft Server (Using Fabric)

Step 1: Ensure your server has correct version and sufficient amount of RAM

  • Make sure you have a Minecraft Fabric server with correct version, so it is compatible with the modpack you are intending to Install.
  • In our case, Fabric 1.20.1 as Better MC for Fabric is compatible with this version as of now.
  • Before proceeding, make sure that your Minecraft server have sufficient amount of RAM, 8GB and above is recommended for the Better MC modpack. To modify your server resources, check this guide here. To upgrade your existing resource plan, check this guide here.
  • Click the Manage button on the server where we will be installing this modpack.

Step 2: Installing the Modpack

  • Click on the Modpacks tab.
  • Search for BMC2 in the search bar.
  • Select the correct Modpack. Make sure to select the [FABRIC] version.
  • Select the correct version with the green check mark next to it, these are verified and tested versions.
  • Click the Install button to initiate the installation process.
  • Server will be unaccessible for a while during installation. Once properly installed, proceed to restart the server.
  • Accept the EULA and wait for the server to be marked as running in console.
  • Sometime, EULA might not come up as popup. Instead you might have to enter True in the console so it's recommended to have the console open before you restart the server after installation.

Step 3: Client side setup on Prism Launcher

  • Launch Prism Launcher and click Add Instance in the top left corner.
  • Choose the correct Minecraft version, our modpack Better MC [FABRIC] - BMC2 works with 1.20.1 so we will choose that.
  • Next, we will choose the latest version of Fabric loader 0.15.3 as of now. This will change when new releases arrive.
  • Click on the CurseForge button on the left side.
  • Search BMC2 in the search field.
  • select the correct modpack (Fabric).
  • Select the correct modpack version as Installed on the server. As we installed 1.20.1 v17 we will select that.
  • Finally, Click OK to create the instance.
  • Later in the process it will prompt to download the missing mods, proceed to click OK.
  • Double click on the newly created instance to launch it.

How to Install Better MC on Your Minecraft Server (Using Forge)

Step 1: Ensure your server has correct version and sufficient amount of RAM

  • Select the correct modpack version as installed on the server. As we installed 1.20.1 v18 we will select that.
  • Finally, Click OK to create the instance.
  • Later in the process it will prompt to download the missing mods, proceed to click OK.
  • Double click on the newly created instance to launch it.
